Planning a romantic getaway this year?
If you’ve ever gone on a trip with your significant other before, you’ll know that the destination is everything. The right place will have a charming atmosphere that instantly lends an air of romance. Somewhere beautiful and relaxing, so you and your loved one can simply enjoy each other’s presence. What could be better?
Whether you’re planning for Valentine’s Day, your anniversary, a honeymoon, or a ‘just because’ trip, Puglia (or Apulia) is the perfect destination. Below we’re sharing our favourite romantic spots around Puglia, from restaurants and vineyards to viewpoints and villas. Your partner will fall in love with you all over again with this itinerary!

Is Apulia Italy’s Premier Destination For Romance?
This is a tough one, because Italy in general is a very romantic destination. There are stunning spots all over the country where you can walk hand-in-hand, take in the sights, and enjoy romantic meals for two.
But we especially love Puglia for a few reasons:
It’s not as touristy as other regions. You’ll be able to find plenty of lists saying that Venice and the Amalfi Coast take the cake when it comes to romance, but you’ll have to share the scenery with thousands of other couples. With a great mixture of cities, villages, and nature-based destinations, Apulia offers a quieter, more intimate experience. There are many secluded spots that you’ll be able to have all to yourselves!
The architecture is simply magical. Apulia is the only region in Italy with trulli, a charming cottage-style hut that looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale. Many of the coastal towns are perched on top of limestone cliffs, which also creates an ethereal feeling. Thanks to the unique architecture, you can create your very own fairytale romance in Puglia!
Ample opportunities for sunsets and sunrises. With a massive 900 km long coastline that borders the Adriatic and Ionian seas, Puglia is a dream destination for lovers of sunsets and sunrises. What could be more romantic than sitting on the beach with the person you love most, watching the sky in its most beautiful state?
It encourages a slower pace of life. Sometimes, the best way to connect with your partner is getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Apulians prefer slow living – savouring meals, going for leisurely walks, taking slow dips in the sea. It’s the perfect way to spend carefree days with your better half.
So, without further ado, here are some spots you won’t want to miss on your romantic trip to Apulia.

The Most Romantic Restaurants In Puglia For Date Night
Grotta Palazzese, Polignano a Mare. You’ve likely seen pictures of this famous restaurant on Instagram. Built into the side of a limestone cavern, you’ll be treated to an unforgettable dining experience.
Parlapiano Bistrot, Mola di Bari. With an elegant interior reminiscent of a jazz bar, an impressive bar, and an inventive menu, this restaurant has perfected the recipe for a fantastic date.
Mint Cucina Fresca, Polignano a Mare. The perfect blend of quirky and traditional, Mint is a cosy spot with vibrant decor and delicious food in a rustic setting. It’s a small, intimate space that’s ideal for a date night.

The Most Beautiful Viewpoints In Puglia For A Romantic Stroll
Punta Meliso, Santa Maria di Leuca. You may have gone on a seaside stroll before, but have you been on one where two seas meet? Punta Meliso offers an amazing view of the ‘border’ of the Ionian and Adriatic seas. You’ll be able to notice the different shades of blue and the streams joining together, which makes for a unique visual treat.
Lu Tafaluru, Sant’Andrea. Also known as the Sphinx of Salento, this fascinating rock formation resembles the iconic ancient Egyptian monument. It’s located just off the coast of Sant’Andrea, near the town of Lecce. You’ll also get to admire the rest of the rugged coastline on this beautiful hike. Pro tip: the sphinx looks extra dramatic in the evening!
Gravina di Laterza, Terra delle Gravine Regional Nature Park. This magnificent canyon is often called the Grand Canyon of Europe. It’s certainly one of the largest canyons on the continent, stretching 12 km long with rock walls almost 200m high. Believe us when we say this location offers nothing but breathtaking views!
Grotta della Poesia, Salento. Meaning ‘the Cave of Poetry’, this stunning natural rock pool boasts sparkling azure waters tucked between limestone cliffs. The name comes from a local legend about a princess; as she bathed in the pool, she attracted local poets that would write about her beauty. You can admire the pool from the top of the cliffs, or dive in for an enchanted dip!

The Best Vineyards In Puglia For A Charming Day Trip
Agrinatura Giancarlo Ceci. This picturesque vineyard is located on the grounds of an old castle – it really doesn’t get more romantic. Guided tours and wine tastings that allow you to stroll through the grounds and learn more about the centuries-old techniques are available by reservation, so be sure to plan ahead.
Antica Enotria. Situated between the Adriatic sea and rolling hills, this quaint vineyard is steeped in tradition. You’ll get to enjoy delicious wines with a selection of local foods (the vineyard offers different options – choose what’s best for you) while taking in the gorgeous scenery.
Castel di Salve. A stunning heritage winery, Castel di Salve has been making high quality Apulian wines since 1885. You can choose from a variety of tasting experiences, from a quick over the counter tasting to a private tour of the estate’s wine cellar. Plus, the winery is close to the beach town of Marina di Andrano, so you can admire the views after your tasting.
